Title: Volunteer
Company: Soapbox Zine Library!
Location: Philadelphia, PA

Description:
The Soapbox Independent Publishing Center and Zine Library seeks a volunteer to join our small and committed volunteer team (hint: we’re all volunteers). As a volunteer at the Zine Library, you’ll help us catalog zines, manage the collection and work in the reading room.

What kind of library is this?
We’re a zine library. That means we collect independently produced publications.
These run the gamut from poetry to personal accounts; from activism to humor.

Officially we’re called The Soapbox: Philadelphia’s Independent Publishing Center.
We’re a West Philly-based space that fosters creative and political voices.
We’re one-half print shop, one-half zine library, and we’re nice people.

We’re a small group who love what we do.

Is this right for me?

This could be an exciting opportunity for library students interested in community collections, alternative institutions and/or simply a fun way to help out a small library.

I’m totally sold!

Great! Drop us a line and let us know. And take a few minutes to browse our website and our ever-growing collection of cataloged zines.

The Annenberg School for Communication is looking for an Omeka tutor/consultant to jumpstart  two or three Omeka novices on using Omeka for an archive project we are starting.  The Omeka tutor does not have to be a super expert but he or she should be at least at an intermediate level, i.e. feel super comfortable, have real experience with it.

Duties:
Have web development skills? Interested in contributing to a small team with big ambitions? Does the prospect of real-world entrepreneurship get your creative juices flowing? We're a web startup based in South Jersey and are recruiting an intern that could participate in an exciting project we're cooking up.

Our business is in helping small retailers make themselves known to their communities. Prosperity starts with local entrepreneurship, and we use that as a guiding principle in our mission.

Your contribution would involve helping shape exactly how this marketplace works. We're seeking someone with a strong knowledge of web development languages. From homepages to email blasts to user profile pages, there's a lot of coding work on our plate, and we need you to help build the infrastructure to support it.

Meanwhile, you'll gain access to digital entrepreneurs creating a marketing system from the ground up. Like in every fledgling business, everyone's opinion is valid and welcomed, and we'll all get to watch an end-product come to life in a matter of months. We aim to launch our marketplace late in the Fall. Ideally, you can come aboard immediately.

Volunteer for  Soapbox Zine Library

Doing What?
